The Pilgrimage Road

By Nick Dalgety

And when He was twelve years old, they went up to Jerusalem according to the custom of the feast. [LUKE 2:42]

Israel has recently completed the unearthing of the Pilgrimage Road in Jerusalem. Why is this important? For me it is yet another dramatic proof of the veracity of scripture. The Bible is not a book of fables but of real history dating back from 1st Century AD back to the very beginning of time.

The Pilgrimage Road is a living testament to the route my Messiah took when Judea was under Roman rule. His parents went to Jerusalem every year at the Feast of Passover. There is an account in Luke’s gospel when the young boy Yeshua (Jesus) amazes the Temple scholars.

He amazed people then and He continues to amaze people today. Why? Because He speaks The Truth and that cuts to the heart of all that are open to hearing it.

A photo I took of a young boy on a donkey when travelling in the Jordanian mountains overlooking Judea.
The road from the Pool of Siloam up to the Jewish Temple.

Here is a helpful extract from the Biblical Archaeological Society:

The Pool of Siloam is a pool cut into the rock, adjacent to the ancient City of David. It was fed by waters of the Gihon springs, which would qualify it as a Mikvah for ritual purifications.

The Pilgrimage Road connects the Pool of Siloam, the City of David, the Western Wall and the Temple Mount, and had been thought to have been built by King Herod for use by Pilgrims, who would stop at the pool to ritually purify themselves on the way to the temple…

When travelling overseas, I often seek out similar experiences. I created Provenance101 to share these experiences.
