I draw here on one of the great folk singers of all time. Bob Dylan who rose to fame in the 1960’s.
His song titled Slow Train Coming came to life in 1979 following his born again Christian experience.
I share only my simple opinion of this artist with lyrics that resonate for me.
For me the slow train highlights a time of judgment coming, slow but sure. The train whistle warns of pending danger and a metaphor for the good news of the gospel.
Big-time negotiators, false healers and woman haters. Masters of the bluff and masters of the proposition. But the enemy I see wears a cloak of decency. All non-believers and men-stealers talkin’ in the name of religion. And there’s a slow, slow train comin’ up around the bend [SLOW TRAIN COMING LYRICS BY BOB DYLAN]
Here we have lyrics taken from Dylan’s song. Although written 50 years ago, his talk of big-time negotiators and false healers definitely speaks to our reality in 2025!
Dylan is calling out the hypocrisy of religion and how men use it to persuade and deceive. Dylan shares more on his Christian views in other songs like Gotta Serve Somebody.
This song title draws on the words of The Master:
No one can serve two masters; for either he will hate the one and love the other, or else he will be loyal to the one and despise the other. You cannot serve God and mammon. [MATTHEW 6:24]
Mammon or what the World offers is controlled by Satan. So the question asked of you and I is whether we choose to do the will of Yeshua (Jesus) who spiritually is not of this world or that of Satan. We can’t serve both.
I’ve made my decision and my Master is Yeshua. What decision will you make, today?
