George Orwell 1984

By Nick Dalgety

Bible truth: You, (King Nebuchadnezzar) O king, have made a decree that everyone… shall fall down and worship the gold image; and whoever does not fall down and worship shall be cast into the midst of a burning fiery furnace. [DANIEL 3:10-11] Daniel’s friends disobey the King.

Nineteen Eighty Four was first published in 1949. George Orwell possessed an uncanny insight into the future affairs of Man and certainly he draws on his own British experience of the horrors of Nazism and the dramatic rise of brutish communist rule in Russia and China.

Here I am at Sublime Cafe on Bridge Street in Nelson. A coffee in hand and keen to better understand truths George highlighted in his book to warn us in our day.

George Orwell brought to us words that are now part of our common lexicon – newspeak, doublethink, big brother and the thought police.

The world is divided into zones where totalitarian rule operates and The Party annihilates all opposition. The main character, Winston Smith, rebels against the Party.

Reflecting total control we read in his book, “we, the Party, control all records and control all memories.” We also read the following, “”Smith”, yelled the voice from the telescreen. “6079 Smith W.! Uncover your face. No faces covered in the cells.””

For me the similarities with end time biblical prophecy are clear. The storm clouds are building. The seed of the woman highlighted in the Garden, who I believe is Messiah Yeshua, is now preparing to do battle with the seed of the serpent and his evil forces.

World history will culminate in events foretold by Bible prophets like Daniel and Zechariah as well as the writings of the apostle John in the last book of the Bible called Revelation. Messiah Yeshua, will be victorious over that serpent of old!

Following this cosmic battle, a new Garden will be created rivaling the first Garden of Eden. It will display provenance in all its glory.

The Bible is clear. To share in this new Garden and new heaven and new earth there is only one way – faith and trust in Messiah Yeshua.

When travelling overseas, I often seek out similar experiences. I created Provenance101 to share these experiences.
