DOES GOD HAVE A SON?

By Nick Dalgety

Does God have a Son? Many people in the World may say, who cares?

Can I suggest it is the most important question to discover the answer to. And I will provide you with some truths to help you in that search.

This question is pivital to my walk of faith. Let me start at the end (sort of) and work back to the beginning. I came to trust in my Jrwish Messiah many years ago. Inherent in my belief is accepting that Yeshua (Jesus) is the Son of God. Yet I admit I was troubled in understanding or knowing God the Father (Abba). Then, a thunderbolt moment. Reading Yeshua’s words to His apostles literally hours before His crucifixion, we learn of the apostle Philip’ question:

Philip said to Him, “Lord, show us the Father, and it is sufficient for us.”

Jesus said to him, “Have I been with you so long, and yet you have not known Me, Philip? He who has seen Me has seen the Father; so how can you say, ‘Show us the Father’? Do you not believe that I am in the Father, and the Father in Me? The words that I speak to you I do not speak on My own authority; but the Father who dwells in Me does the works. Believe Me that I am in the Father and the Father in Me, or else believe Me for the sake of the works themselves. [JOHN 14:8-11]

I will complete this story in the next couple of days.

Nick Dalgety is a Kiwi born in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. In recent times my wife and I have made Nelson in the top of the South Island home.

My day job involves working with people making a living from land and sea. In my spare time my passion is taking pictures that celebrate what is iconic about Aotearoa New Zealand. Inevitably this involves discovering amazing people, in their special place making and doing what they do best.

When travelling overseas, I often seek out similar experiences. I created Provenance101 to share these experiences.
