A HAVEN FROM THE STORM

By Nick Dalgety

The simple things in life are best. Like finding rest in your bedroom. Life outside the home can get so chaotic.

Here I am, doing just that. Listening to a little music. Rest. Draw from one or two of my Christian books. Yet nothing beats drawing from The Word of God.

Find reliable information sources

It is important to find reliable sources that communicate honestly about what is happening in our world, locally and globally. Many sources today have an agenda to sell, a pre determined narrative.

It is so important to have a means to confirm what I am reading or listening to, is secure. For me, it is The Bible, for the source is divine.

The Bible is a sure anchor

Genesis for Man’s origin, Exodus for the story of the Jewish people chosen by God to, at the appointed time, bring forth a Messiah, a Savior for you and I.

Proverbs and Ecclesiastes to remind us of futile pathways to steer clear of; ways to deal with our brother and our enemy; and that the fear of God and keeping His commands is Man’s all.

The Gospels accounts bring to life God’s Son Yeshua, who at the Father’s behest, came to earth, lived amongst us. A Man of sorrows and acquainted with grief who, of His own accord, was nailed to a tree at Calvary. A perfect sacrifice, the only way to set us free from our sinful state.

Accepting my fallen nature

Let us look around; open our eyes to our fallen state. Yes. There is a way out. Repentance, and faith only in Him. For death could not hold Him down.

Eternal life certain in Yeshua (Jesus)

He rose from the dead on the third day. You also will rise from the dead to eternal life if you place your faith in Him.

His light can break through the darkness, like the light coming in through my bedroom doorway. He will hear your call, and will be your stronghold. Thank you Holy Groove for your blues song, The Lord is My Light:

I will look to add important supporting scriptures in the coming day.

About the Author

Nick Dalgety is a Kiwi born in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. In recent times my wife and I have made Nelson in the top of the South Island home.

My day job involves working with people making a living from land and sea. In my spare time my passion is taking pictures that celebrate what is iconic about Aotearoa New Zealand. Inevitably this involves discovering amazing people, in their special place making and doing what they do best.

When travelling overseas, I often seek out similar experiences. I created Provenance101 to share these experiences.
