IN THE VERY HEART OF YOUR HOUSE…

By Nick Dalgety

Gathering around the table

Hi there everyone. Gathering around the table with family, friend and stranger to eat and share with one another, lies at the heart of God’s creative plan.

Yes; this plan was marred indeed, yet of our own making and not God’s doing!

Sharing about my own family

Following I share briefly by name all who are in my family – there are five in total. I draw from Psalm 100 which has only five verses and I allot a verse to each family member. First my wife Cheryl and I, married in 1988.

Next, our three children, Daniel, Rebekah and Luke. You can see that all their names are biblical, holding that the respective stories of these faithful believers of old will be an encouragement to our children in the days ahead.

A psalm of gratitude – 100

Psalm 100 brims with thanksgiving. A call to shout joyfully to The God who made us; to come into His presence acknowledging – He is God. All who know Him are His people and the sheep of His pasture. Consider Yeshua’s words when He refers to Himself as The Shepherd and those who know His voice, are His sheep, here.

That’s family in my book!

God transforms that which the locusts have eaten

Another special place in scripture that highlights family under God’s watch is Psalm 128. Read of the husband who fears The Lord, the wife who is like a fruitful vine and their children in the very heart of their house, like olive plants all around their table.

We all make mistakes being children and raising children. Trust in Him, and He will bring back to life that which the locusts have eaten.

About the Author

Nick Dalgety is a Kiwi born in Wellington, the capital city of New Zealand. In recent times my wife and I have made Nelson in the top of the South Island home.

My day job involves working with people making a living from land and sea. In my spare time my passion is taking pictures that celebrate what is iconic about Aotearoa New Zealand. Inevitably this involves discovering amazing people, in their special place making and doing what they do best.

When travelling overseas, I often seek out similar experiences. I created Provenance101 to share these experiences.
